ARTWORK
Easy Action
The original spirit of rebellion and fun.
THE STORY
In 1979, David was playing in a band called Easy Action. Rock superstardom, as it turned out, was not immediately forthcoming.
What the band did have was a pretty great logo.
David first sketched the idea directly onto the back of his then-girlfriend, an experiment that produced equal parts nervous laughter and inspiration. The design soon made its way onto the band’s press kit and a promotional poster, both created with the optimism of a group presumably awaiting the inevitable phone call from a major record label.
The call never came.
The poster, however, had legs.
Decades later, David returned to the image and reimagined it as Easy Action, preserving the humor, rebellion, and youthful confidence of the original. In the end, the artwork achieved something the band never quite managed: longevity.
It is a fond reminder of being young, making music, making art, and having absolutely no reason to believe you weren’t about to become famous.
