SUB-MISSION

The Ultimate Evil...
Is Closer Than You Think.

Sub-Mission by David Schure, graphite on Bristol paper
SUB-MISSION   ·   DAVID SCHURE

America slept. The enemy watched.

In 1942, New Yorkers looked out at a city that seemed safely removed from the battlefields of Europe. They weren’t as safe as they thought.

That January, a German U-boat slipped into Lower New York Bay, close enough for its commander to see the lights of Manhattan. Months later, another surfaced off Long Island and delivered four Nazi saboteurs carrying explosives onto American soil.

For David, Sub-Mission lives in the unsettling space between security and vulnerability and the realization that while families slept and the city lights burned, the enemy was already watching from the darkness offshore.
